About GetRenoGuide
GetRenoGuide gives homeowners a planning number before they call a contractor.
What GetRenoGuide does
Each of our 14 calculators prices a project line by line: materials, labor, permits and a contingency buffer. Every line shows a low and a high price, and labor is adjusted for your state (all 50 states and DC). The calculators are free, need no sign-up and work in English and Spanish.
Where the numbers come from
Unit prices are national benchmark ranges drawn from public cost information and reviewed together as a set. The review date is shown on every calculator. Labor moves much more by location than materials do, so a state cost index adjusts labor most. The full method is on the methodology page.
What our estimates are not
- They are planning numbers, not quotes. A contractor who sees your home will price it differently.
- They do not include everything. Each calculator lists what is included and what is left out.
- They do not replace itemized bids. Use them to check whether bids are in a reasonable range.
How the site is paid for
The calculators and guides are free. Some pages may include contractor matching or affiliate links, and they never change the numbers in a calculator. Read the affiliate disclosure for details.
