How we calculate your siding replacement cost

We price the project line by line: demolition, cabinetry or fixtures, finishes, labor, permits, and a contingency buffer. Every line has its own low and high unit price, so the range you see comes from real spread in the market, not a flat percentage. Labor is then adjusted by state, and materials move far less by location than labor does.

How much does siding replacement cost?

Vinyl siding for a mid-size home often costs $15,000 to $30,000 including tear-off and trim. Fiber cement, wood, brick and stone cost more.

Does the estimate include installation and disposal?

Yes. Installation is in the siding line and removal and disposal is a separate line you can turn off.

What is house wrap and why is it included?

House wrap is a water-resistant barrier under the siding. Replacing it while walls are open prevents moisture problems and is standard practice.

Do I need to paint the siding?

Fiber cement, wood and engineered wood need paint or stain. Vinyl and metal come colored. You can toggle paint in the last step for materials that need it.

Should I get multiple contractor quotes?

Yes. Get at least three itemized quotes and compare what is included, especially tear-off, wrap, trim and warranty.
